Cost: $1,950 (with up to $500 scholarships for ethnic minorities)
The cost will cover lodging and meals, activities, some spending money, and a little extra to take back with you at the end of the summer.
Here’s Life Inner City Denver has obtained grant money that will provide $500 each for 10 minority students toward the cost of the project.
Housing:
An old Victorian-style house in the heart of Denver ... less than a mile from downtown Denver.
The City
When most people think of Denver, they think of mountains, skiing, hiking, vacations, and — of course — the Broncos. However, Denver is a place where the beauty of the Rocky Mountains meets the reality of the inner city, where only 47% of students graduate high school and gang-related crimes have increased 35% in the past 7 years. Come and join with other faithful men and women already laboring and showing Christ's love to the poor and needy of Denver.

The Project
In the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, the Denver project will connect you with disadvantaged children, youth, and young adults who need to know they are loved by God. Through Bible clubs, day camps, sports clinics, outreach, and mentoring programs you will be the hands and heart of Jesus. You will have the opportunity to serve with 18 other college students “in the trenches” alongside some of Denver’s most experienced and dynamic urban ministers.

The Ministry Sites:
Here’s Life Inner City Denver is all about engaging the body in Urban Youth Ministry. This summer, you will have the opportunity to serve at various ministry sites that have a heart to see the lives of children, youth, and young adults transformed by the Gospel. You will play a vital role in discipling and mentoring these young people who will someday be the future of our churches and communities. Each ministry site is committed to seeing God’s work accomplished in the lives of young people year-round. This project is designed to expose students to inner-city youth ministry and challenge them to return as yearlong interns at one of our ministry sites.
The Training
Your training on Denver's Summer in the City Project will cause you to see the world differently. You will be trained in Spiritual Leadership, Spiritual Movements, Racial Reconciliation, Ministering Cross Culturally, and you will have many opportunities to share your life and your faith. You will be trained not only by Here’s Life Inner City staff, but also by experienced leaders in local ministries. You will grow through hands-on ministry experience, ministry training, and small group Bible studies. You will return to your campus and church equipped to minister in ways you never thought you could.

The Fun
Not only will you be changing lives and having your own life changed, you will have a blast doing it. You will be able to enjoy Colorado to its fullest: whitewater rafting, hiking in the absolutely beautiful Rocky Mountains, taking in a National League Champions Rockies baseball game, and — if you think you can handle it — climbing a 14,000-foot mountain!! Denver also has a very vibrant downtown with many great restaurants, malls, and various attractions.
