The City
Seattle is home to some of the most affluent communities in the United States. But don't be deceived by this high-tech community, Seattle is also home to the working poor and far too many homeless people.

The Project
The Seattle Summer in the City Project is placing a significant emphasis on corrections. You will minister in jails, work with parole officers from the Department of Corrections, and possibly in some state prisons. This project is not a prison project but it is full of community corrections ministry, an excellent opportunity for students of sociology, psychology, and criminal justice. The Seattle project will also include working with homeless residents of a Tent City. You will learn how to minister across racial, religious, and socio-economic lines.

The Ministry Sites: TBA
The Training
Although the central focus of the Seattle Summer in the City project is ministering to the poor, your time will also equip you for practical ministry as you return to your campus or home community. Ministering to the poor is not confined to working only with the poor. The training will help equip you to relate to all walks of life, no matter what their economic position.

The Fun
The Pacific Northwest offers far more recreational opportunities to squeeze into a short project than reasonable, but we will see how close we can come. Note that it is wise to bring a HOODED water-repellant wind-breaker. There is a reason why it is so green here, and that reason can be summed up in one word: rain.
